having delt with them throughout my career, but I'm not familiar with the most recent Montgomery County elections. I would have to agree that, as with MOST things SB related, it IS most likely political.

As an aside, the biggest mistake i made was to vote for elected school boards. My reasoning was that we should get a chance to elect all officials who represent us. The problem, it turns out, is that school board positions, once the prevue of civic minded (typically successful) people who wanted to help kids, became ENTERY LEVEL politics. People saw it as a way to push an agenda and get recognized for a possible run to the next step, Board of Supervisors/City Council.

As to what happened to the MCPS Superintendent, boards are fickle and most have an element of being power mad (not all members!). I guess what makes this unusual to me is that it was unanimous so soon after he was extended.

I have retired (not and educator, but rather a vendor whose major projects all had to get Board approval), and dealing with the current group of Virginia School Boards is one part of my job I will NEVER miss!
